Automated High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) in Production — Aluminum & Zinc Alloy
This video shows our automated die casting cell running real production. Molten non-ferrous metal (aluminum A380 / ADC12 or zinc Zamak 3/5) is dosed from the furnace, injected into a hardened steel die under high pressure, rapidly solidified, ejected, and trimmed — all in a continuous automated cycle.
What the footage captures:
• Aluminum ingots / zinc alloy loaded into the melting furnace (500°C+ holding temperature)
• Auto ladle or dosing furnace transferring molten metal into the cold-chamber shot sleeve
• Plunger injecting molten metal into the water-cooled steel die at high pressure
• Rapid solidification inside the die, then automatic die opening
• Ejector pins pushing out the casting onto a conveyor or robot take-out arm
• Degating, trimming, and transfer to deburring / CNC secondary ops
Materials we run:
• Aluminum alloys: A380, ADC12, A360, A356
• Zinc alloys: Zamak 3, Zamak 5
• Optional: Magnesium (AZ91D) on request
Process specs:
• Machine type: Cold chamber die casting (aluminum), hot chamber available for zinc
• Die material: H13 (1.2344) hardened steel, water-cooled
• Tolerance: ±0.05mm standard, ±0.01mm on critical machined features after CNC
• Wall thickness: 0.8–5mm typical
• Tool life: 50,000–100,000+ shots
• Lead time: 20–35 days for tooling + first article (depends on part complexity)
• Inspection: Dimensional check, X-ray / dye penetrant on request, FAIR available
Why die casting (not plastic injection):
Die cast metal parts deliver higher strength, heat resistance, EMI shielding, and dimensional stability than molded plastics — ideal for structural brackets, heatsinks, motor housings, pump bodies, and enclosure frames.
Typical applications:
• Automotive brackets, sensor housings, EV cooling plates
• LED lighting heatsinks and fixture frames
• Industrial pump bodies and valve covers
• Power tool gearboxes and motor end caps
• Consumer electronics metal enclosures
